The consequence
- Exercise-related pain
- Movement restriction
- Joint stiffness
- Irritation with effusion
Osteoarthritis is not purely mechanical wear and tear – it's a complex, biologically active process.
What is osteoarthritis?
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease of the articular cartilage.
Over time, this leads to a progressive breakdown of the cartilage structure, changes in the bone beneath the articular cartilage, and inflammatory irritation of the synovial membrane.
What is osteoarthritis?
Osteoarthritis is subdivided into stages I to IV.
Stadium I
Light
cartilage loss
Stadium II
Moderate osteoarthritis
Joint space narrowing
Stadium III
Advanced
Gaps in the cartilage
Stadium IV
Severe osteoarthritis
Severe osteoarthritis
How does RenehaVis work?
Injection instead of surgery
Around 200,000 artificial knee joints are implanted annually in Germany to treat pain from osteoarthritis. At the same time, studies show that surgical procedures such as arthroscopy or joint replacement are sometimes performed earlier than medically necessary.
One possible treatment option is the injection of hyaluronic acid. RenehaVis is a dual-chamber syringe available for this purpose, combining two hyaluronic acid compounds with different molecular structures. In a study (last page), 200 patients with knee osteoarthritis were treated with RenehaVis. The result: The patients reported significantly higher satisfaction compared to the use of single-chamber preparations.
The special dual-chamber syringe allows for the separate application of two forms of hyaluronic acid in one treatment step.
- RenehaVis is injected intra-articularly.
- Use under sterile conditions
- Optional ultrasound-assisted
- Single injection as indicated
Dual Technology – Synergistic Effect
RenehaVis combines:
- High molecular weight, non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid
– Immediate improvement in lubricity - Cross-linked hyaluronic acid
– Longer intra-articular residence timet
Advantages over uniformly cross-linked hyaluronic acid:
- Optimized initial viscosity
- Better distribution within the joint
- A combination of fast action and extended stability
- fewer injections
The combination of low- and high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid improves both lubrication and shock absorption – and demonstrated superior clinical efficacy in a study. (1)
Administration
RenehaVis is injected intra-articularly under sterile conditions.
- Indication: symptomatic osteoarthritis of synovial joints
- Approach: joint-specific (e.g., lateral parapatellar at the knee)
Recommended frequency
Per joint:
– 2 injections per treatment cycle
In the first year:
– 2 injections per quarter
In the second year:
– 2 injections every six months
In the third year:
– 2 injections annually
The RenehaVis Advantage
RenehaVis works and reduces your pain more effectively than mono-molecular hyaluronic acids (LMW and HMW) – (1)
Pain on movement in knee osteoarthritis – comparison of different HA preparations
Patients reported significantly higher satisfaction with the therapy under RenehaVis. (1)
